Pour Out Your Hearts

"Trust in him at all times, O People; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."
Psalm 62:8

I have a hard time keeping up with having my quiet times everyday and I am sure that I'm not the only one. The Lord has been working in my heart though and now I do not think I could go a day without spending time in His word. It is what keeps me going and encourages me everyday. I thirst for him and long to know his heart more and more.

This verse has been on my heart lately. It's reassuring and comforting knowing that we have a God who cares to listen to us when we pour out our hearts to him. The meaning of the verse is as simple as it seems, yet means so much.

Recently, I was reminded of the love that the Lord has for us. I was reminded that even though we are so undeserving of him, of his grace, and of his mercy, he chooses to show us love.

I woke up Saturday morning around 9 o'clock and decided to go downstairs to watch a movie since the house was still quiet. Well into the movie, which if any of you care was, The Vow, my mom and dad preceded downstairs to start breakfast. A few minutes after they had been downstairs, my dad walked over to me, and this was the following conversation:

Dad- "Do you notice anything missing from the garage?"
Me- "No?"
Dad- "I sold my dirt bike this week."
Me- "Why?"
Dad- "I haven't ridden it but 10 times in the past 3 years and I was practically just sitting on money."
        (a minute or two later..)
..."Also, I knew that you needed a computer for school, so I'm going to use the money I got from the bike, to buy you a new computer."

I began to get mad at this point and responded with, "Why would you sell your dirt bike for me?! You love that thing."

I began crying at this point.
He came over and bear hugged me. (By the way, I am not a "huggy" person)

Dad- "Your mom and I are very proud of you for working hard this year. We're also proud of who you've become and we love you so much. We're going to go get you a MacBook in about an hour."

The conversation ended soon after that, but in my mind and in my heart, the Lord had taught me a very valuable lesson. You see, I was mad at my dad for selling his dirt bike FOR ME, because I felt so undeserving of it. A few days before this happened, I had not been very nice to my parents, and I felt guilty. The sin weighed heavy upon my heart. Also, the question "How could he give up something that he loved so much, FOR ME?" kept running through my mind. Within seconds that this question popped up, I related it spiritually and the Lord made it so easy to understand.

God gave up his son, for me and for you. If the fact that my dad gave up only his dirt bike for me, can make me bawl my eyes out knowing I'm undeserving but still loved by him, then surely the fact that God gave up his ONLY son FOR ME, should touch my heart even more.

This situation reminded me clearly of the Father's love. That no matter what we do, what we say, he will always forgive us. That even though we were SO underserving, he gave up HIS life so that we could have a better life.
